RESHAPing energy use in Gippsland

Gippsland OVERVIEW

Starting close to home, the Revurb team is engaging and working with energy users and generators in the Gippsland region of Victoria, a historic centre for traditional energy production that is primed to lead in the national shift to a low-carbon economy.

Revurb is keen to engage and work with energy users and generators in Gippsland, so that clean energy is affordably supplied to meet Gippsland’s needs today, while also enabling Gippsland’s businesses and services to rise to tomorrow’s low-carbon commercial opportunities.

RENEWABLE ENERGY IN GIPPSLAND

Gippsland is home to a recognised Renewable Energy Zone focused around Morwell and Sale. The waters east of Wilsons Promontory host Australia’s first named Offshore Renewable Energy Zone. Energy generation is evolving from coal to solar and wind sources, with multiple utility-scale projects operating and planned for development in Gippsland.

Working with Revurb, these wind and solar farms are in a prime position to supply power to Gippsland industries and services, that cannot otherwise access affordable clean power for all their needs. We want to help those generators more strongly integrate with the Gippsland economy, and express their commitment to surrounding businesses and communities.

Energy needs across a dynamic and diverse region

The Gippsland region is home to many industries including those in larger established sectors like energy and resources, agriculture, forestry and tourism, alongside growing niches in manufacturing, seaweed aquaculture and craft food and beverage. Key services such as local government and emergency services are also spread across the region in preparation for the community’s essential needs.

Individually and collectively, these activities reflect a shifting mosaic of energy needs, which may not be ideally fulfilled by traditional energy supply chains and services. Revurb is working towards regional clean energy supply innovation.

We are ready to talk with those involved in purchasing and using energy in Gippsland, on building and implementing a better approach from the ground up.
